The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan's Violence Against Women Project will offer "Jury Selection in Sexual Assault Cases" Thursday, June 10, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. This free, interactive training will be hosted on Zoom and will include a presentation, Q & A, and breakout sessions. It is for prosecutors and assistant prosecutors only.
Jury selection is a prosecutor's first opportunity to connect with the jury, begin to lay the foundations for the arguments made in closings, and preview any issues in the trial. An effective voir dire can establish the tone of the entire trial. Voir dire in sexual assault cases have a unique set of issues that are not present in every case.
This training will give participants the basics of picking a jury and will require full participation in Q & A and breakout sessions.
This training satisfies 4.0 hours of CLE for purposes of PAAM's Best Practice Recommendation.
