The Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) will present its 2021 Summer Conference titled "Resurgence and Resilience: New Strategies for the New Normal" which will take place in person in Kalamazoo and will be livestreamed online Friday and Saturday, July 23-24.
The keynote speaker on Friday will be Lexlee Overton who will discuss "Self-Care and Mindfulness During the Pandemic and Beyond." As a fifth-generation lawyer in Baton Rouge, LA, Overton felt defined by that fact. One day she suddenly found herself in a hospital emergency room. The physical pain she experienced, the unsettling anxiety attack she suffered, reflected a deeper pain that she needed to face. Overton came to the realization that she was not really living her life. She was successful as an attorney but her personal life was a mess. She will talk about how she began her search for a better path, one with answers, leading to personal fulfillment and an improved life.
The conference will also feature:
• SORA: What Is, What Was, and What We Don't Know-Lisa Kirsch-Satawa
• Order In The Law-A Peek Behind the Curtain on the Purpose and Process of Michigan Joint Task Force on Jail and Pretrial Incarceration-Rep. Tenisha Yancey
