McDonald Hopkins will continue its Cyber Savvy Webinar Series with “So You’ve Backed Up Your Data: Can You Survive A Disaster?” on Thursday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Backing up data is quite easy, but is it secure enough to survive an attack? Many companies are finding out the hard way that just backing up their data isn’t enough. They need to have a disaster recovery plan and an incident response plan in place to follow after a suspected data breach.
In this webinar presented by the McDonald Hopkins Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Group and PhoenixNAP, McDonald Hopkins’ Kate Jarrett will be joined by Bryan Cole, senior cloud executive at PhoenixNAP and member of the Arizona Cyber Threat Response Alliance, and Michael Deemer, systems engineer at Veeam. Their discussion will center on the importance of Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and ways organizations can navigate their disaster recovery and incident response plans to be prepared from both a technical perspective and legal perspective in the event of an actual or suspected data breach.
Topics to be covered include:
• Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS)
• Importance of a disaster relief plan
• Legal obligations in the event of a data breach
• Being prepared before the data security incident
Jarrett is an associate in the Litigation Department at McDonald Hopkins and part of the firm’s national Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team in Detroit. She has experience advising and coaching a variety of businesses, such as health systems, professional service firms, and educational institutions, on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including responding to government inquiries and investigations, and obligations with respect to state data privacy laws, HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA and state insurance departments. Jarrett also has experience assisting clients with data privacy and cybersecurity litigation and cybersecurity class actions. She earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law and her bachelor of arts in political science from Boston University.
