The American Bar Association Section of Taxation is proud to announce that “From the Texas Cotton Fields to the United States Tax Court: The Life Journey of Juan F. Vasquez” has won a silver medal in the category of Best Biography, English Language at the 2022 International Latino Book Awards.
The inspirational story of Juan F. Vasquez, the first Hispanic American appointed to the United States Tax Court, depicts his journey surmounting numerous challenges such as poverty, manual labor and discrimination. It explores his pursuit of education to build, with the support of family, friends and mentors, a professional career serving family, community, taxpayers and the tax system.
“The Section of Taxation has been honored to publish Judge Juan Vasquez’s biography. This recognition by the 2022 International Latino Book Awards underscores the section’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion,” said C. Wells Hall III, ABA Section of Taxation chair.
