The Oakland County Bar Association’s Municipal Law Committee will present the webinar “You’ve Been Hacked, Now What?: Addressing and Preventing Cyber-Attacks” on Tuesday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
The webinar aims to provide a background and understanding of steps needed to take to protect personal, client, and law firm data from a cyber-attack and why data security is not just something for the I.T. professionals to worry about.
The program will provide the facts on what happened in data breaches over the past 12 months and receive practical advice on how to secure personal data as well as clients’ and law firms’ data.
Participants will learn what government and private industry are doing to protect themselves and how to work with your clients to help them minimize the risk of having a data breach. Attendees will receive action steps to mitigate against evolving cyber-attacks and understand the notice requirements if there is a breach.
Data security questions will be addressed by a group of experts from the public and private sector that includes:
• Teri Takai, senior vice president, Center for Digital Government
• Carina M. Kraatz, Kitch, Drutchas, Wagner, Valitutti, & Sherbrook PC
• Chris Burrows, chief information security officer, Rocket Central
• T.J. Fields, chief information security officer, Oakland County Government
Cost for the program is $35 for OCBA members; $25 for OCBA Municipal Law Committee members; $25 for OCBA new lawyers, paralegals; and $35 for non-members. OCBA student members can attend for free.
