The State Appellate Defender Office and the Criminal Defense Resource Center along with West Michigan Regional Investigators Association will present a webinar on “Navigating CPS and Forensic Interviewing” Thursday, October 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.
In this training, attendees will learn how CPS gets involved in families, what to expect in a forensic interview, and what criminal defense investigators should look for when reviewing a CPS interview.
Speaking at the webinar will be Susan Luthy, chief investigator for the Kalamazoo Defenders. Prior to joining KDI, Luthy worked for the State of Michigan in Children Services specializing in child death and CSC cases. She is a trained forensic interviewer, and has worked closely with Children Advocacy Centers in Allegan and Berrien Counties. Luthy has a masters in Family Studies with a concentration of Community Service and is a CFLE (Certified Family Life Educator).
