Man bound over in random stabbings case
A 31-year-old man was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on Friday in connection with random stabbings in Roseville and St. Clair Shores.
It is alleged that on the morning of May 17 last year, Shane Burns stabbed a woman multiple times resulting in her death in the parking lot of a Belle Tire on Gratiot in Roseville.
Not long afterwards, according to Prosecutor Peter Lucida, Burns approached a man waiting at a bus stop and stabbed him multiple times.
That afternoon, Warren Police Department’s Special Ops Unit took Burns into custody.
During a search of the defendant’s vehicle, authorities say police found a shotgun, 9mm firearm, and a large amount of ammunition.
Burns is charged with eight counts, among them first degree murder and several firearm counts. He continues to be held on bond at $10 million cash/surety only.
An arraignment in Macomb County Circuit Court is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22.
