Affinity Bar Charity Challenge
The 2024 Affinity Bar Charity Challenge took place recently at North End Tap Room in Royal Oak. The Oakland County Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association (Oakland County region of Women Lawyers Association of Michigan), Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan, Jewish Bar Association of Michigan, D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association of Michigan, Italian American Bar Association of Michigan, and Chaldean American Bar Association participated. Among those attending the fun night of giving back were (left to right) Sima Patel, OCBA Executive Director Jennifer Quick, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Amanda Shelton, Wayne County 36th District Court Magistrate Laura Echartea, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti, Nicole Gettler, Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Adrienne Young, Kelley Donnelly, Elyse Culberson, Jacqueline August, Oakland County 46th District Court Judge Cynthia Arvant, Kristin Fernandez, and Oakland County Circuit Court Judges Yasmine Poles, Lorie Savin, and Kameshia Gant. Each partner bar association was representing a charity. Attendees voted for their favorite bar association by donating cash “tips” to the association’s “tip jar” of their choice. All tips go to the charities selected by each respective bar association. The bar association that received the most tips wins the challenge and receive an additional donation to its charity. This year’s winner was the Italian American Bar Association and its charity was Fleece.
