Community members invited to participate in Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Community Driven Policy Teams

Ann Arbor, MI - As part of her 100-Day plan, Sheriff Alyshia Dyer and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office is launching Community-Driven Policy Teams.

These teams will be charged with helping to review and rewrite forward facing policies for the Sheriff’s Office. All community members are invited to participate. Anyone who lives, works, or recreates in Washtenaw County, is welcome to participate in the space, including County and Sheriff’s Office staff.

“These policy priorities have been shaped by listening sessions I’ve held over the past two years within the community, as well as feedback I’ve received internally,” says Sheriff Dyer, “This open and transparent process will allow us to leverage the expertise of our internal team and the broader community to improve current practices and implement new initiatives. This is a model to help us increase engagement with our community as well as between divisions at the sheriff’s office. We want to build an office that advances equity, safety, and collaboration. Together, we can build a strong and more united Washtenaw County.”

The 13 teams are reflective of the values of the Office.
