Levin Center marks 10-year anniversary


On Wednesday, March 5, the Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy at Wayne State University Law School will hold an open house and buffet lunch to celebrate the signing of the Levin Center’s Charter 10 years ago.

The ceremony will take place from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor lobby of Wayne Law, 471 W. Palmer St. in Detroit.  Following the lunch, a welcome address and comments will be made to the attendees by Provost Laurie Lauzon Clabo, Dean Rick Bierschbach and Levin Center Director Jim Townsend.

‘Investigator Meetup’ presented by SADO


The State Appellate Defender Office’s Criminal Defense Resource Center along with the West Michigan Regional Investigator Association will continue their 2025 Trainings for Defense Investigators with an “Investigator Meetup” webinar Thursday, March 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.

SADO’s Chief Investigator Julianne Cuneo will be speaking at the webinar. Cuneo began investigating police brutality and misconduct for civil rights cases in 1982 at Detroit plaintiffs’ firm Goodman, Eden, Millender, & Bedrosian. Five years later, she opened Sunshine Investigations in Detroit and shifted focus to criminal defense, including fact and mitigation work on dozens of federal death penalty investigations.

Detroit Mercy Law plans annual
Law Review Symposium


The Law Review at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will host the 109th Law Review Symposium on Friday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m at the school’s downtown location, 651 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.

This year’s symposium is titled “From Theory to Practice: Mastering the Art of Effective Legal Advocacy.”

The Detroit Mercy Law Review welcomes legal professionals, students, academics, scholars, practitioners, and other stakeholders from across the country to discuss topics involving effective legal advocacy.
Registration for the symposium is required but is free and open to the public.
