“Join us in celebration as we recognize the 2025 OCBA award recipients, members achieving 40 years in legal practice in Michigan, and those who have been a loyal member of the OCBA for 50 consecutive years,” said OCBA Executive Director Jennifer Quick. “In addition, outgoing OCBA President Dean M. Googasian will pass the gavel to incoming President Sarah E. Kuchon. Sarah will be sworn in as the bar’s 93rd president, and her first action as the new leader will be to deliver remarks about her vision for the year ahead.”
This year’s award winners:
• Sean P. Murphy, Michigan Court of Appeals, recipient of the Bonnie L. Beutler Outstanding New Lawyer Award.
• Legislative Committee, Co-chairs Sheldon Laskey and Klint Kesto, recipient of the Committee of the Year Award.
• Ellen M. Paynter, Paynter & Associates, recipient of the Lakeshore Legal Aid Pro Bono Award.
• Oakland County 51st District Court Judge Richard Kuhn Jr. , recipient of the S. Gerald Gorcyca Meritorious Service to Veterans Award.
• Khadija Walker-Fobbs, Oakland County Neighborhood & Housing Development, recipient of the Allene and Martin Doctoroff Liberty Bell Award.
• Cary S. McGehee, Pitt McGehee, recipient of the Professionalism Award.
• Retired Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Phyllis C. McMillen, recipient of the Distinguished Public Servant Award.
• Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Kameshia D. Gant, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.
• Edward Pappas, Dickinson Wright, recipient of the Distinguished Career Achievement Award.
