The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will present the Traffic Safety Training Program Webinar “The Dangers of Masking Commercial Driver License (CDL) Violations” Thursday, May 22, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
Masking CDL violations is against federal and state law. Most of the time, these laws apply to a CDL holder whether they are operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) or a non-CMV, a personal vehicle. Violations such as human trafficking using a CMV (lifetime CDL ban) to drunk driving (one-year CDL suspension) to speeding 15 or more miles over the speed limit (possible 60-day suspension) are just some of the masking laws/penalties you may encounter.
The presentation will highlight what specific CDL holder violations you should be aware of. The presentation will also address the history of the CMV industry, the reasons behind the masking laws and why it is so important to hold these professional drivers to a higher standard.
Speaking at the webinar will be Dale Schneider, administrative law specialist-CDL attorney with the Michigan Department of State.
