Track teams look ahead to regionals
Athletes on both the Galesburg-Augusta track teams will be aiming to qualify for the State Finals at the regionals May 15 at Bangor at 1 p.m.
Athletes still qualify for the state finals at the regionals with a top two finish or by meeting a qualifying standard, however for the first time this year, athletes could qualify through early qualifying.
To qualify through early qualifying, athletes have to reach a much higher standard based on the 6th place time, distance or height at the state finals last year.
G-A senior Jaidyn Klimp has already qualified in long jump.
Both the Galesburg-Augusta girls and boys track teams enjoyed some encouraging performances at the highly competitive SAC Conference meet May 5 at Lawton.

Kalamazoo Hackett Prep won the boys meet with 129.83 points and Gobles won the girls event with 83 points.
A third place finish by Jeremiah Mann in the high jump with a season record leap of 5’8” was G-A’s highest finish in the boys event.
Patrick Armock enjoyed a fourth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.70.
