Foster Swift welcomes returning litigator Allison M. Collins

Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC welcomes back litigator, Allison M. Collins, to the Lansing office, as a shareholder in the General Litigation practice group. Collins was previously with the firm from 2013-2021, starting in 2013 as a summer associate.

She then served the State of Texas from 2021-2025 as part of the General Litigation Division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General, rising to the rank of Deputy Division Chief. She defended Texas state agencies, state officials, and public universities against complex employment discrimination and constitutional claims in Texas trial courts and on appeal.

Collins has extensive experience in state and federal courts, representing clients in all phases of litigation in the following areas: state and federal appeals; employment litigation; environmental litigation; constitutional claims; and administrative and general litigation. She has also handled a wide variety of insurance defense, agricultural law, commercial litigation, and civil rights matters.

Collins grew up in an agricultural community in California, and her dedication to agriculture has continued in Michigan. She previously led Foster Swift's Agri-Business Group and served as co-editor of the Michigan Environmental Law Journal for the State Bar of Michigan. She also served on the councils for the State Bar of Michigan’s Environmental Law and Agricultural Law sections.

Collins received the E.W. Kitner Scholarship to attend Indiana University Maurer School of Law-Bloomington, where she obtained her J.D. and was awarded deans honors.

Collins received an Ingham County Bar Association “Top 5 Under 35” award in 2019; was named a Michigan Super Lawyers "Rising Star," Insurance Coverage, 2017-2021; Michigan Super Lawyers, Insurance Coverage, 2017; and a Best Lawyers in America "One to Watch" (Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Litigation – Environmental), 2020-2021.
