Roseville man bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on charge of assault with intent to Murder

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido has announced that a 56-year-old man from Roseville was bound over to stand trial in connection with an alleged shooting.

A preliminary exam was held Wednesday in 39th District Court in Roseville before Judge Joseph Boedeker. After the hearing, Abel Rivard was bound over to stand trial at the Macomb County Circuit Court on the following charges:

• Assault with Intent to Murder, a life felony
• Two Counts of Felony Firearm, each a two-year consecutive felony
• Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a four-year felony

Rivard made a motion to change his bond amount, which is currently set at one million dollars cash. Boedeker denied the motion. Rivard remains held at the Macomb County Jail.

Abel’s next court appearance will be at the Circuit Court arraignment on July 22.

It is alleged that on Friday, May 23, Abel Rivard instigated an argument with Martin Robinson of Clinton Township in the parking lot of the King of Budz Cannabis dispensary in Roseville.

Each man went into the dispensary where the argument continued. When Rivard and Robinson returned to the parking lot, Rivard allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and Robinson retreated.

As Robinson was returning to his car, Rivard allegedly shot him. Robinson survived the shooting.
