‘How AI Is Transforming the Profession’ examined

American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education will present a webcast on “How AI Is Transforming the Profession” on Thursday, July 31, from noon to 1:30  p.m.

As artificial intelligence (AI) technologies continue to evolve, their integration into legal practice presents both exciting opportunities and complex ethical challenges. This session will examine the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and legal practice, providing attendees with essential insights into how these technologies are reshaping professional responsibilities and opportunities.

A panel of leaders from alternative dispute resolution, corporate counsel, public interest advocacy, and legal education will share their experiences and explore key issues surrounding AI’s influence on legal practice, including:

• AI Adoption Across Legal Sectors – A substantive briefing on the current state of AI adoption in legal contexts, including emerging research on the capabilities of AI tools and attitudes among legal professionals toward their use.

• Real-World Applications of AI in Legal Practice – Specific examples of how AI is reshaping corporate legal operations, alternative dispute resolution, and access to justice initiatives, as shared by leaders in the field.

• Ethical Challenges and Professional Standards – Presenting the most pressing ethical questions for the legal profession regarding AI integration, including how lawyers can responsibly adopt AI tools while navigating evolving professional standards and ensuring the best interests of clients and the public.

The panel features the president and CEO of the American Arbitration Association, who will share how she is leading an AI-first approach to the future of dispute resolution; the program officer for Technology III from Legal Services Corporation, who oversees innovative AI implementations designed to expand access to justice for underserved communities; and the associate general counsel & managing director of Policy & Legal Operations at Ford Motor Company, who leads corporate legal transformation initiatives that leverage AI for improved efficiency, risk management, and strategic decision-making. 

The moderator, founder of Creative Lawyers, has expertise in legal education and strategic AI integration in legal and will share some perspectives on the future of lawyer formation and skill development.
