On July 11, the Jackson County Adult Treatment Court (JCATC) team alongside program participants rolled up their sleeves for “Kelsey’s Community Cleanup,” a two day-long initiative focused on improving neighborhood safety, beautifying public spaces, and connecting the area’s unhoused population with vital resources. The event, organized in close collaboration with Home of New Vision and the Jackson Area Recovery Community (JARC), mobilized court participants, graduates, treatment providers, recovery coaches, and community volunteers to remove litter, hazardous debris, and abandoned encampment materials from city parks and surrounding streets. The Home of New Vision and Jackson Area Recovery Community had volunteers on hand to provide immediate access to services including linkages to emergency shelters, transitional housing, and substance use and mental health services; and to naloxone training and harm-reduction supplies.
“A clean, safe environment is a cornerstone of both public health and recovery,” said Jacob Stressman, Program Administrator for JCATC. “By engaging in community service projects like this, we’re showing our participants and the broader community that recovery is about giving back, building meaningful connections, and ensuring everyone has access to a compassionate path toward support.”

The JCATC team and current and past participants did a two-day clean-up in the community.
The Jackson County Adult Treatment Court joined “Kelsey’s Community Cleanup” to promote public safety, environmental stewardship, and support for the unhoused.
