Galesburg helps residents’ with energy savings projects

In the summer of 2023 City of Galesburg Mayor Linda Marble was asked to write a grant to receive Federal funds from ARPA to provide the City’s households with major renovations for energy savings.

In October, Marble was contacted by State of Michigan MI-HOPE that she had received a grant of $200,000. In the meantime, Kalamazoo County Housing also granted the City of Galesburg a $200,000 grant for energy savings projects to City residents.

From 2023 through the summer of 2025 Marble was able to grant 9 households the energy savings projects that they needed. These projects included roof replacement, furnace and air conditioner installations, new hot water heater, new windows, and insulation throughout the home.

Both the MI-HOPE grant and the Kalamazoo County grant administrators worked together to give these homes as much assistance as possible.

Marble stated that even though this was a daunting task that lasted 2 years, she is so excited that the City was able to help these homeowners.
