Firm schedules Employment Law Seminar 2025


Miller Johnson is looking forward to hosting its Employment Law Seminar 2025 in Detroit for the first time.  

The seminar will take place Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Elevate at One Campus Martius in Detroit.

Speakers will focus on current issues and complex situations employers regularly face. 

Among those speaking at the seminar from Miller Johnson’s Detroit office will be Saniya Khare, associate; Joshua J. Leadford, member; Erica L. Quigley, associate; and Mike I. Sherman, senior counsel

Panel discussion set to mark Wrongful Conviction Day


The Cooley Law School Innocence Project will recognize National Wrongful Conviction Day with a panel discussion Thursday, Oct. 2 at the law school’s Lansing campus from noon to 1 p.m. 

The event will feature exoneree Gilbert Poole Jr., as well as author, legal scholar, and Cooley graduate Nathan Goetting, who is now director of the George Romney Institute for Law and Public Policy at Adrian College. T

Poole, who was represented by Cooley and exonerated in 2021, remains active in the Innocence movement, working with those who remain incarcerated as well as other exonerees. 

The Cooley Law School Innocence Project is the only post-conviction DNA innocence organization in the state.

Since its inception, the office has screened more than 6,000 cases and is responsible for the exoneration of nine individual.

The project is staffed by Cooley Law School students, who work under the supervision of attorneys.

CDAM presents Evidence Boot Camp in Mount Clemens


The Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present “Evidence Boot Camp E” on Friday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Macomb County Public Defender Office in Mount Clemens.

This program offers hands-on, small-group skills training taking a look at all new cases. Attendees do not have to take prior Boot Camps to attend this Boot Camp. 

Speaking at the training will be Edward Bajoka, Harry Mihas, and Marshall Tauber

Cost for the training is $320 for CDAM members and $400 for non-member. Continental breakfast, lunch, and materials are included.
