Dan’s Excavating was selected as the construction partner to ensure efficient, high-quality project delivery. The project marks a critical investment in the city’s future, replacing infrastructure nearly a century old with a modern, reliable system designed to serve residents for generations.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be at 24400 Dubay Dr, Clinton Township, MI 48036.
The initiative will retire the City’s Water Treatment Plant, originally built in 1929, and replace it with new facilities that provide redundancy, reliability, and long-term resilience. Project components include:
A primary connection to GLWA’s 42-inch water transmission main.
Construction of a new pump station and 2-million-gallon ground storage tank.
Installation of approximately 4,200 feet of 24-inch water transmission main.
A secondary connection with a meter chamber, pressure-reducing valve chamber, and 1,000 feet of 16-inch water transmission main.
Replacement of 44 residential lead service lines.
In addition to its technical scope, the project represents a significant financial achievement. With Fishbeck’s assistance, the City secured a $43 million State Revolving Fund loan package, which includes $20 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law (BIL) grants and loan forgiveness. This funding ensures both affordability and long-term sustainability for the
residents and businesses of Mt. Clemens.
The project is expected to be completed in November 2027.
