The Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC) will conduct its 2025 Winter Meeting, titled “For the Love of Defense: How to Love Being a Defense Attorney Again,” on Friday, November 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Detroit Novi, 21111 Haggerty Road in Novi.
The program schedule will include:

• 9 to 9:55 a.m.—Keynote: “Changes - How women and Gen Z have changed the legal profession”
• 10 to 10:45 a.m.—Panel 1: “Business Development - Rain Making Tips and Strategies”
• 11 to 11:45 a.m.—Panel 2: “How to Make Your Life Easier: Practical Solutions to Being a Busy Lawyer”
• 11:50 a.m. to 1:20 p.m.—Lunch + Presentations
• 1:25 to 2:10 p.m.—Panel 3: “Legal Pac Man: How to Level Up Your Appeals Strategy”
• 2:10 to 2:15 p.m.—Michigan State Bar Foundation Presentation
• 2:15 to 2:55 p.m.—Judicial Panel: Trial by Fire: Avoiding Burnout With Better Case Strategy
• 3 to 4 p.m.—Defense Network Reception
During the luncheon, the MDTC/MAJ (Michigan Association for Justice) Respected Advocate Awards will be presented. The MDTC annually gives the award to a member of the plaintiff’s bar for the purpose of recognizing and honoring the individual’s history of successful representation of clients and adherence to the highest standards of ethics. The MAJ does the same annually for a defense practitioner to promote mutual respect and civility.
Cost for the Winter Meeting is $279.28 for MDTC members, $348.65 for non-members, $108.55 for lunch-only, and a new member special of $332.63 which includes the cost of meeting and one year of membership.
