Law school’s Environmental Law Society hosts panel discussion on water justice
Cooley Law School’s Environmental Law Society hosted a panel discussion on Sept. 23 about water justice in Michigan. During the event at Cooley’s Lansing campus, the group shared ideas and discussed the work they do for We the People of Detroit, a community coalition that advocates for policies that ensures everyone can access affordable water in Detroit. Taking part in the panel discussion were (left to right) Athena Murray, We the People Detroit, water equity legal fellow; Norrel Hemphill, We the People of Detroit legal and policy manager; Cecily McClellan - Water PEEPS co-chair, director of Water Works; Gwendyln Howard, We the People of Detroit, Water PEEPS co-chair; Emily Smith, Michigan Environmental Council land and water conservation policy manager; and Sean Montgomery, Cooley Environmental Law Society vice president.
