Last Friday, following a five-and-a-half-day, a jury convicted Hayes of a single count of assault with intent to murder.
The verdict was delivered after fewer than five hours of deliberation. Hayes now faces a potential sentence ranging from any term of years up to life in prison.
Hayes was remanded to the custody of the Macomb County Jail pending sentencing set for Jan. 8.
The conviction stems from a July 3, 2024 incident in which Hayes stabbed her boyfriend multiple times at his Clinton Township residence.
The victim suffered 14 stab wounds, including one in the side of his neck. He survived and later recovered from his injuries.
