A 48-year-old Holland man is scheduled for a probable cause conference today in 58th District Court in Holland on attempted murder and other charges stemming from a Nov. 15 shooting in Holland Township.

Andrew Louis Harper was arrested Nov. 21 and arraigned in District Court Nov. 24 on charges of assault with intent to murder, felonious assault and felony firearms-habitual offender fourth offense in connection with the shooting in the 90 block of Douglas Avenue. He is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on a $500,000 bond, Capt. Jake Sparks of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies were called to the scene in response to a report of shots fired in the area. They later located a 27-year-old Jenison man at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. That victim was treated for his wounds and released, Sparks said.

Further investigation by Ottawa County detectives found a 25-year-old Holland man was also struck by bullets during the shooting, but his injuries were minor, Sparks said.

Harper was taken into custody in Holland with the assistance of the Ottawa County Critical Response Team and lodged at the county jail.

The probable cause hearing will be before District Judge Juanita Bocanegra. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Dec. 11, county court records show.
