A Holland-based public defense attorney has announced plans to run for an open seat on the 58th District Court bench.
Anna White announced last Friday her plans to run for the District Court seat being vacated by current District Judge Bradley Knoll, who is retiring at the end of the year due to age limitations.
In her statement, White expressed a commitment to the principles of fairness, dignity for all, and careful, informed decision-making. She noted that her approach is grounded in both professional experience and a deep respect for the role of the court in the community.
“The justice system has a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families,” White said. “I believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and to have their case considered carefully and fairly. My goal is to bring both expertise and empathy to every decision.”
White has been both a social worker and a defense attorney. She has worked with both victims and individuals accused of crimes during her work in the legal profession.
White’s work extends well beyond the courtroom and into the heart of the community. Her involvement with nonprofit and ministry organizations has strengthened her understanding of how communities can support healing, accountability, and healthy change.
White’s service includes:
• Serving on the advisory team for Ridge Point Community Church, and formerly serving as a board member and elder at the Fearless Family of Churches.
• President of the board for Zeeland-based Compassionate Heart Ministries for the last two years, helping oversee staff that create space for friendship and meaningful daily activities for individuals with mild to moderate
disabilities.
• Member of the Ottawa County Community Corrections Advisory Board, supporting collaborative efforts to reduce recidivism and address underlying causes of system involvement.
White says she has been guided by her belief in fairness, dignity for all, and the importance of bringing both expertise and empathy to every decision.
The District Court election will take place on November 2026.
