The Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present the webinar “To 404(b) or Not to 404(b)...That is the Question” online Friday, January 30, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
Knowing how to effectively use and challenge evidence is critical to litigation success. During this interactive session, presenter Mary Chartier, of Chartier & Nyamfukudza PLC, will discuss best practices for challenging other act evidence and using other act evidence to defend your client. Because evidentiary planning and objections can set up a case for litigation success, this session will explore strategies to achieve the best results for defending clients.
Attendees will learn about:
• Investigating potential other act evidence
• Strategizing uses for other act evidence at trial
• Preparing for government objections at trial related to the defense using other act evidence
• Motions to challenge the government’s proposed use of other act evidence
• Reviewing the differences between MRE 404(b) and statutory other act evidence in domestic violence and sexual assault cases
Cost for the webinar is $40 for CDAM members and $50 for non-members. To register, visit https://cdam.wildapricot.org.
