AgeWell Services is issuing an urgent call for volunteers from Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties to support the Meals on Wheels and Senior Medical Transportation programs.
Volunteers deliver nutritious meals, safety checks and friendly visits to homebound older adults. Volunteer drivers provide rides to essential non-emergency medical appointments.
The need for Meals on Wheels volunteers is critical in:
Montague / Whitehall – Wednesdays and Fridays for 1.5-hour routes; Grand Haven / Spring Lake / Ferrysburg – Mondays and Fridays for 1.5-hour routes; Holland – Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays (sub volunteer drivers) for 1-2-hour routes
Volunteers use their own vehicles. Mileage reimbursement is available. Background checks are required. Training and a ride-along with a current volunteer required.
Senior Medical Transportation drivers are needed in Muskegon County – weekdays for 8 am-12 pm or 12-5 pm. Volunteers drive AgeWell Services vehicles. Background and license checks are required. Training and a ride-along with a current volunteer required.
