In regard to the juvenile, a preliminary hearing was scheduled to be held in the Macomb County Juvenile Court on Tuesday.
Referee Kristin Stone granted the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office request for a special adjournment to allow for a review of the facts and circumstances to decide if the interests of justice and protection of the public require the juvenile to be tried as an adult.
Stone denied the juvenile bond and ordered him to remain in the Juvenile Justice Center pending the next preliminary hearing on Monday.
The prosecutor’s office is also evaluating a warrant request for an 18-year-old man related to the same alleged shooting. The matter is under review at this time. The man is in the custody of the Sterling Heights Police.
