Climax Village Council trustee faces two charges

Climax Village Council Trustee Benjerman A. Moore faces two charges in the Calhoun County 10th District Court after he was arrested March 5 according to 10th District Court and Calhoun County Sheriff Department records.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Department records, Moore, 36, was arrested March 5 by the Battle Creek Police Department, booked into the Calhoun County Sheriff and held at the Calhoun ?County Corrections Center where a $2,500 ($250) bond was set March 5 and posted March 17 according to the Calhoun County 10th District Court.

According to the Calhoun County 10th District Court, Moore was charged with controlled substance - possession of methamphetamine/Ecstasy  and Weapons-ammunition - possession by a prohibited person.

Both charges are felonies.

A Probable Cause Conference was scheduled for March 16, however that was adjourned and a preliminary examination has been scheduled in the Calhoun County 10th District Court April 14 at 1:30 p.m. before Hearing Officer Paula K. Beardslee.

Moore, who was at the March 17 Climax Village Council meeting, did not want to comment on the issue after the meeting.

Moore was elected to a two-year partial term in November, 2024 with the term ending November 30, 2026.
