Bloomfield Township is turning 200 next year and administration is looking for volunteers to collaborate on the celebration. A ten-person Bicentennial Steering Committee is being formed to brainstorm ideas to honor the milestone and put plans into action. Committee members will work alongside the Bicentennial Working Committee made up by Township personnel across multiple departments to delegate and guide activities or events.
Those interested in serving on the Steering Committee should visit bloomfieldtwpmi.gov/200years/ to complete the Expression of Interest Form. The committee anticipates meeting twice a month beginning in May with an option to attend virtually.
Bloomfield Township has a deep history from its original charter as one of twenty-five Townships in Oakland County in 1827 to a burgeoning farm village that grew into a bedroom community in the 1960s. Many notable individuals have lived in and shaped the community over that time.
