Baseball teams’ season opener cut short
The Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball teams’ season opener March 26 at Battle Creek Central was a short one.
G-A and Battle Creek Central were scheduled to play a doubleheader however the first game was stopped in the top of the second inning with G-A leading 4-0 due to poor weather.
G-A Athletic Director Mike Woodard said it has not yet been determined if the second game will be made up.
Coleson Blake had the lone hit and RBI for G-A before the game was stopped.
G-A pushed three runs across in the first inning and one in the second.

G-A softball team wins opener
The Galesburg-Augusta varsity softball team won a three-inning contest over Battle Creek Central March 26 in the season opener, 13-2 on the road.
The second game was not played due to poor weather. G-A Athletic Director Mike Woodard said it has not yet been determined if the second game will be made up.
K. Wetzel led a 12-hit attack with three hits and S. Owens, P. Snodderly and Caitlyn Valadez each added two hits.
Wetzel earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit over three innings. She gave up two earned runs and two walks to go with four strikeouts.
The Lady Rams stole 18 bases, with Caitlyn Valadez claiming four swipes.
