The Galesburg-Augusta girls tennis team suffered a 6-2 loss to Battle Creek Pennfield in the season opener April 7 at Pennfield.
Both of G-A’ wins came in singles play.

Fifth place finish for Lady Rams; boys place 9th at invite
The girls, who finished with 70.5 points, had 17 personal best performances.
Sophomore Jenisyn Klimp led the way in the sprints with two first place finishes. She won the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 13.28 and finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.89.
Ellesa Callender earned a second place finish in the discus with a throw of 85’10”.
Niles Brandywine won the 13-team womens event with 129 points.
Patrick Armock stood out for the boys with a first place finish and a third place finish.
The G-A junior won the discus competition with a personal best throw of 133’7,5” and finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal time of 16.04 and
G-A junior Luke Dennis placed third in the shot put with a personal best toss of 36’,3.5”.
Buchanan won the mens event with 136.5 points. G-A totaled 27 points.

Galesburg-Augusta varsity softball team drops six games
The Rams answered a game they were no hit in by Union City in the first game of a doubleheader with a 13-hit attack in the second game however the team dropped both games April 11 at Union City.
The Rams struggled defensively in a 15-0 loss in the first game, committing seven errors.
Kaylin Wetzel suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs, 11 hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Sienna Owens, who had a triple and drove in two runs, Caitlyn Valadez, Aarylin Gain, and Kaylin Wetzel each had two hits to lead G-A at the plate in the second game.
Kaylee Bastian suffered the loss, allowing nine earned runs and four walks. She struck out three.

Gobles Sweeps Lady Rams
Gobles jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the top of the first inning and went on to post a 23-1 win over the Lady Rams in the first game of a doubleheader April 9 at G-A High School. The Tigers pounded out 18 hits in a 25-5 win over G-A in the second game.
Wetzel, Sienna Owens, Ava Schelb, Caitlyn Valadez and BreAnna Keene, who had a double and drove in G-A’s lone run, collected the five Ram hits in the first game.
Wetzel suffered the loss, although 10 G-A errors led to 19 unearned runs.
The Rams were held to five hits in the second game as well, with Owens’ two hits leading the way.
G-A struggled in the field in the second game also, committing nine errors that led to nine unearned runs on Bastian’s ledger as the losing pitcher.

After pounding out 12 hits in a 12-2 season opening win over Battle Creek Central the Galesburg-Augusta varsity softball team was held to a combined four hits in two losses to Parchment April 7 at G-A High School .
A third inning single to rightfield by Ava Schelb in the first game in a 17-0, three inning loss was the lone hit for the Rams in the opener.
Two hits by Kaylin Wetzel and one by Caitlyn Valadez accounted for G-A’s hits in the second game.
Kaylee Bastian took the loss in the opener, allowing 15 hits and 16 earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts.
Kaylin Wetzel started and suffered the loss in the second game. She allowed seven hits and seven earned runs to go with five walks and two strikeouts.
Five G-A errors in the second game led to 10 unearned runs for Parchment.

Baseball team drops two but still enjoys strong start to season

Nate Ewart, Justin Martin, who drove in one run, and Alex Krugh, who also drove in one run, each had two hits for the Rams in a 15-6 loss in the first game.
Ewart started and suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed seven hits and four earned runs with two walks over four innings pitched.
Five errors led to nine unearned runs in G-A’s 17-7 loss in the second game.
Ewart, Justin Martin, Krugh, who had a double and one RBI, Ranes, who drove in one run, and Kameron Prince, who had one RBI, had G-A’s hits.
Prince was tagged with the loss.

Jonah Ranes and Carter Simmons each had three hits and drove in three runs in the first game.
Alex Krugh pitched three hitless innings and struck out 10 to earn the win in the first game.
Ranes had a triple and drove in five runs for G-A in the second game.
Justin Martin pitched the first three and one-third innings and was credited with the win.

The Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team enjoyed a strong start to the season with a doubleheader sweep over Bloomingdale April 7 at G-A High School.
The Rams captured a 10-0, four inning win over Bloomingdale in the first game and held off the visitors 7-5 in the second game in five innings.
A 10-run first inning and a combined one-hitter by Alex Krugh and Ayden Maine helped the Rams to the 10-0 win in the first game.
Alex Krugh’s three hits, including a double, and three RBI paced G-A at the plate in the first game. Justin Martin, with a double, and Cayden Allie, each had one hit and drove in two runs.
Krugh started and was credited with the win. He allowed no hits and just one walk with seven strikeouts.
Mayne pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit, one walk and he struck out two.
Three Ram pitchers combined on a five inning no-hitter in the second game, however nine walks led to five Bloomingdale runs to keep the game close.
Justin Martin started and was credited with the win. He did not allow a hit in two and one-thirds innings pitched, but gave up two earned runs, one walk, hit one batter and had two wild pitches with four strikeouts.
Nate Ewart pitched one and two-thirds innings and allowed one earned run with four walks, one wild pitch and one hit batter to go with two strikeouts. Carter Simmons pitched the final inning and allowed one earned run with four walks and one strikeout.
Krugh had two hits including a double and drove in two runs for G-A. Jonah Ranes also had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for the winners.
