He holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
Kirchner will be appointed as an at-large member for a term commencing April 26, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2027.
Scott Renner, of Grand Rapids, has been appointed to the Collection Practices Board. Renner is a licensed collections manager and president of the Velo Law Office.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
Renner will be reappointed to represent collection professionals for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2030.
John Hiemstra, of Grosse Pointe Woods, has been named to the Michigan Appellate Defender Commission. Hiemstra is a district commissioner at the Michigan Court of Appeals.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan in jazz studies, a Master of Music with a concentration in jazz studies from Michigan State University, and a Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School. Hiemstra was appointed as a member recommended by the Michigan Court of Appeals for a term commencing March 19, 2026, and expiring May 24, 2029. He succeeds JoAnn Lank, whose term will expire.
