Prosecutor’s Office considering charges after alleged shooting in Clinton Township

A 14-year-old juvenile is being detained stemming from the alleged non-fatal shooting of another individual at a residence in Clinton Township on May 26.

A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled to be held in the Macomb County Juvenile Court on June 2. Referee Eric Lindquist, Jr. granted the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office request for a Special Adjournment to allow for a thorough review of the facts and circumstances to decide if the interests of justice and protection of the public require the juvenile to be tried as an adult.

Lindquist denied the juvenile bond and ordered him to remain in the Juvenile Justice Center pending the next Preliminary Hearing date set for June 9.

“Decisions involving juveniles are never taken lightly, especially when evaluating whether adult charges are appropriate. Young people must understand that a single poor choice can shape the course of their future, and that actions carry lasting consequences,” said Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
