Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido has announced that Martin Yost, a 45-year-old Sterling Heights man, was convicted as charged by a jury of first-degree murder for beating his girlfriend to death.
The trial was held before Circuit Court Judge Rachel Rancilio.
Yost has been held without bond at the Macomb County Jail since of 2023.
He will be sentenced by Judge Rancilio on July 28.
Authorities say Yost brutally beat his girlfriend, Dhoua Lao, to death. He was later found by Roseville police passed out in the driver's seat of his vehicle with Lao deceased in the passenger seat.
