Experience Jackson and Jackson County Parks announce the 2026 Parks Challenge

Experience Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan’s tourism bureau, alongside Jackson County Parks, announces a partnership to host the 2026 Jackson County Parks Challenge.

The first-time initiative challenges residents and visitors to experience Jackson County Parks by highlighting select hidden gems throughout the park system, as well as recent additions and improvements to various park locations between June 23, 2026-September 7, 2026.

"We are excited to invite people to explore Jackson County's parks in a new way this summer. Whether it's your first visit or one of your favorite places, every park has something unique to offer,” said Kyle Lewis, Director, Jackson County Parks. “We hope this challenge encourages families, friends and visitors to spend time outdoors, discover a few hidden gems, see where we’ve made recent improvements and make some great memories along the way.”

Participants can see each unique challenge and “check in” through the Experience Jackson App for a chance to win prizes. Participants qualify by visiting and checking in at 8 or more of the 14 locations. Check-ins all happen on the “challenge” tab of the Experience Jackson app, which can be downloaded for free on Google Play and The App Store.

The prize for completing the challenge includes a Jackson County Parks water bottle. All who complete the required challenges by August 1, 2026, will also be entered in a random drawing for tickets to a Detroit Tigers game.

“We’re thrilled to promote Jackson County Parks through this challenge,” said Rachel Buchanan, VP of Marketing & Communications, Experience Jackson. “From discovering ways to play, sculptures to view and trails to explore, we know that participants can learn something new about the outdoor opportunities we have county-wide”.
