Developing community partnerships
Macomb County Judges gathered recently with representatives of mental health agencies, law enforcement and other community partners for a workshop at the Macomb Community College campus in Warren. Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti (far right), who played a key role in organizing the workshop, is pictured with (from left): 37th District Court Judge John Chmura, Macomb County Probate Court Judge Sandra Harrison; 41B District Court Chief Judge Jacob Femminineo Jr., 39th District Court Judge Alyia Hakim, Circuit Court Chief Judge James Biernat Jr., Probate Court Judge Sara Schimke and 40th District Court Chief Judge Mark Fratarcangeli. Supported by the National Center for State Courts and the State Court Administrative Office, the two-day workshop was aimed at determining where individuals with high needs could be matched with community services to avoid entry into the legal system.
