City Council and Village Council Seats
The deadline for candidates for local school board and community college trustees, City Council candidates and Village Council candidates to file an Affidavit of Identity and a nonpartisan nominating petitions to be included on the November 3 election ballot is July 21 at 4 p.m. with the County Clerk and Register of Deeds Office.
A $100 nonrefundable fee may be filed in lieu of a petition by July 21 at 4 p.m. also.
Withdrawal deadline elapses at 4 p.m. on July 24.
In the Climax-Scotts School District, three, four-year terms are open. The seats of Steve Wurtzel, Terri VandeGiessen, and Matt Birkam expire December 31, 2026.
As of July 13, Kevin Langs and Tiffanie Myers are the only candidates so far who have filed an affidavit of identity and nonpartisan petition to be placed on the ballot.
In the Galesburg-Augusta School District, four four-year seats are open.
The seats of Laura Wilks, Diana Shoup, Christy Corsi and Sarah Davidson expire December 31, 2026.
As of July 13, Christy Corsi, Sarah Davidson, and Laura Wilks have filed affidavits of identity to have their names on the ballot.
The Climax Village Council will have three four-year seats up for election. As of July 13, no candidates had filed affidavits of identity of a $100 non-refundable fee in lieu of a petition.
In the City of Galesburg, the two-year mayor seat and three, four-year trustee seats are up for election in November. As of July 13, no candidates had filed affidavits of identity of a $100 non-refundable fee in lieu of a petition.
In the Village of Augusta, three, four-year trustee positions are up for election.
As of July 13, Kim Carlton is the lone candidate so far who has filed an affidavit of identity and nonpartisan petition to be placed on the ballot.
In the Athens School District, four four-year seats are open. As of July 13, no candidates had filed affidavits of identity and a nonpartisan petition or a $100.00 nonrefundable fee in lieu of a petition.
Write-in candidates’ Declaration of Intent form for the November 3 election is due to the respective filing official Friday, October 23 at 4 p.m.
The deadline for district library board candidates (for library districts that include a school district) to file an Affidavit of Identity and a nominating petition is Tuesday, August 11 at 4 p.m. (A $100 nonrefundable fee may be filed in lieu of a petition.) Withdrawal deadline elapses at 4 p.m. on August 14.
