Honigman appoints L. Dwight Floyd as COO
A former litigation partner, biologist, and transformational law firm leader, Floyd most recently served as the COO of Eversheds Sutherland (US). Based in Detroit, Floyd will oversee operations, including finance, information technology, talent, business development, marketing, and administrative functions, helping advance strategic priorities and support continued growth.
Joining the firm with more than 25 years of legal and operational leadership experience, Floyd possesses a track record of successfully leading complex initiatives, implementing strategic change, and building high-performing teams, as well as fostering communication, alignment, and accountability.
Floyd’s multidisciplinary perspective equips him to bring a deliberate, analytical approach to complex problems, which will be critical in his role as COO as the firm continues to pursue growth on a national scale.
Floyd earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, his M.S. from Colorado State University, and his B.S. from Clemson University.
ABA Free Legal Answers tops 500K questions
The American Bar Association’s Free Legal Answers, surpassed 500,000 total questions responded to, marking a major milestone since the virtual civil legal advice clinic began in 2016.
Through the virtual clinic, income-eligible clients can post civil legal questions to be answered by pro bono attorneys. Currently, 42 states and territories are live for client access, including a federal portal that addresses veterans' benefits and immigration questions.
Since its launch, more than 17,700 volunteer attorneys have registered on the platform, collectively providing over 100,000 hours of pro bono service. During this time, nearly 29,000 questions have been submitted by veterans and more than 26,000 by seniors.
