Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Justin Weiland, 34, of Manchester, Michigan, has been arraigned on multiple felony charges stemming from his alleged attempt to meet a juvenile girl for a sexual encounter.
Last Wednesday, Warren police were dispatched to a residence after being contacted by a private child predator investigation group.
It is alleged that Weiland was communicating with whom he believed was a 14-year-old female and went to the location to engage in a sexual encounter with her. The female was, in fact, a decoy.
Weiland was arraigned Friday before Judge John M. Chmura of the 37th District Court in Warren on the following charges:
Child Sexually Abuse Activity, a 20-year felony
Computers – Internet – Communicating with Another to Commit Crime - Maximum Imprisonment Of 15 Years Or More Or Life, a 20-year felony
Computers – Internet – Communicating with Another to Commit Crime - Maximum Imprisonment Of 4 Years Or More But Less Than 10 years, a 10-year felony
Children – Accosting for Immoral Purposes, a 4-year felony.
Chmura set Weiland’s bond at $75,000 cash or surety only, no 10%, GPS tether if released, and ordered to have no contact with minors.
Weiland is scheduled to appear at a probable cause hearing on Aug. 11.
