Crawford’s Bounce and Party Rentals is sending local families back to school with an end-of­summer party at Clarendon Pond on Saturday at 1 pm. This com­munity event will include bounce houses, face painting by Happy Faces, and back-to­school haircuts by Brittany Hurtt, all at no cost. Food trucks and vendors will be present, in­cluding J.B Designs and Memaws Snack Shack.  

Thirteen-year-old Jacob Holmes, will be sharing his rac­ing journey and his fundraiser. This special guest is hoping to inspire other children.   

Guests are encouraged to bring swimwear and life jackets, as two of the inflatable slides will be hooked up to water. However, there will be one bounce house for those who don’t wish to play in the water. 

Shoes and toys are not permitted while on the attraction.  

Engaged couple Mary Butler and Tyler Crawford began their business in April of this year. Crawford previously worked as a sanitation worker and was looking for a change of pace. The pair’s children encouraged them to branch out into the event rental industry and thus the move was made.  

For the Crawfords, ensuring that all the equipment is working properly is the most important part of the job. “We check over everything at least three or four times before we let the kids play,” indicated Butler. Inflata­bles are also sanitized before children are allowed to enter. Seeing the joy on the kids’ faces after setting up is her favorite part of the process.  

There are three separate in­flatables available to rent. The unicorn combo, the dinosaur combo and the dual slide - the most popular. While they are a Homer-based business, the Crawfords serve the surrounding areas, including Battle Creek and Jackson. 

Butler and Crawford esti­mate that at least 50 people will attend. Children must have an adult accompany them to sign a liability waiver. Clarendon Pond holds special meaning for Crawford. He spent many sum­mers there swimming as a youth. Now, as an adult, he is looking to give back to the com­munity and small businesses in the area by bringing locals to­gether.
