It has been an interesting few months for the Litchfield District Library, who have spent the summer learning how to “Unearth a Story” with its summer reading program.
The summer reading program began way back in early June and has since kept the kids and the library workers on their toes. The summer started with Bugs on Wheels on June 5, followed by summer reading and Jurassic Joe’s Magic Show during June.
July brought more dinosaur-related activities, including crafts and adventures. On July 15, the students at Litchfield were able to witness the Michigan Birds of Prey before the Michigan Dino Academy capped off the summer with life-like dino puppets in a show mixed with science, storytelling, and imagination performed by the Bright Star Touring Theatre.
The End of Summer Reading party saw a handful of prize giveaways and a splash party, with Ms. Shelly and Mr. Levi getting soaked. Mr. TRex came and drew the prize tickets to cap off the day.
In all, there were 57 kids signed up for the summer reading program, with 42 being able to complete the program, reading a total of 445 books.
