Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido’s office announced Monday that a 21-year-old Clinton Township man was convicted by a jury for second-degree murder for allegedly strangling his aunt in her Clinton Township apartment.
Following a one-week jury trial, a Macomb County jury last Thursday found Jayden Armez Shazier guilty of second-degree murder.
The trial was held before Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Richard Caretti.
Shazier has been held without bond at the Macomb County Jail. He will be sentenced on Nov.. 5.
On the morning of March 18, 2025, Jayden Shazier went to the apartment of his aunt, Monique Shazier. She was home that morning preparing for a therapy appointment at 2 pm from which she never appeared.
Later that day, Monique's sister and niece conducted a welfare check at Monique's apartment and found Monique deceased on the floor.
Lucido said a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence placed Jayden Shazier on the scene at the time of Monique’s death.
