Clinton Township man bound over on multiple felonies including First-Degree Murder

Macomb County authorities say Al Fairfax, 40, of Clinton Township, was bound over on multiple felony charges, including First-Degree Murder, in connection with the stabbing death of a 36-year-old Clinton Township woman, with whom he was allegedly involved in a relationship.

A preliminary examination was held on Sept. 25 for Fairfax before Judge Carrie Lynn Fuca in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.

At the conclusion of the exam, Fuca bound Fairfax over on the following charges:

• Homicide – Murder First Degree – Premeditated, a felony punishable by life without parole
• Homicide – Felony Murder, a felony punishable by life without parole
• Motor Vehicle – Unlawful Driving Away, a 5-year felony
• Larceny in a Building, a 4-year felony
• Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor.

It is alleged that on March 24, officers from the Clinton Township Police Department conducted a welfare check on the victim after a concerned individual reported that she had failed to report to work the previous day. Upon arriving at the residence, officers discovered the victim, who was deceased from multiple stab wounds.

Fairfax will be arraigned before Judge Kathryn A. Viviano of the Macomb County Circuit Court on October 13.
