The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s Violence Against Women Project will conduct a Lunch & Learn Webinar on Thursday, October 22, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) Forensic Science Division recently updated some of its procedures for processing sexual assault kit evidence. As a result, prosecutors may begin to see reports that look different than those they have received in the past. In some cases, prosecutors may receive only one or two reports instead of the three or four previously provided.
This lunchtime webinar will feature a presentation by MSP Biology & DNA unit Technical Leader Katherine Merideth who will discuss the changes to the male DNA screening procedures, including updates to evidence selected for initial testing and changes to laboratory reporting practices. There will also be time for a Q&A session.
This training is for prosecutors only. It training satisfies 1 hour of continuing legal education for purposes of PAAM’s Best Practices Recommendations.
