The Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present a webinar on “Evaluating K9 Evidence: Training, Reliability, and Legal Challenges” Friday, November 13, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.
The webinar will look at why dogs remain valuable investigative tools, why some excel at detection while others excel at tracking, and how training and reward systems shape canine behavior. Attendees will learn K9 handler terminology, how to interpret training logs and certifications, and how to evaluate a dog’s experience and reliability.
The presentation will examine canine behavior, false alerts, residual odor, handler influence, standard procedures and protocols, and the records and warning signs defense attorneys should look for when evaluating a K9 search.
Cost for the webinar is $60 for CDAM members and $75 for non-members. To register, visit https://cdam.wildapricot.org.
