‘Medication for Addiction Treatment Training Initiative’ offered online

The Michigan Judicial Institute will present “Medication for Addiction Treatment Training Initiative – MAT Refresher Webinaw” hosted by Problem-Solving Courts (PSC) online Tuesday, November 10, from 2 to 4 p.m.

This installment of the Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) training initiative is designed for judges, problem-solving court team members, probation officers, and other court staff who work with
justice-involved individuals with substance use disorders (SUD).

Addiction medicine specialist Dr. Andrew King will provide an overview of opioid use disorder (OUD), the role and benefits of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), and withdrawal management, with a focus on the needs and experiences of justice-involved populations.

Attendees will gain practical knowledge to better understand treatment options and support informed, effective responses to individuals with OUD in the justice system.

Representatives from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will also introduce three upcoming, separate webinars that will provide region-specific guidance on accessing MOUD through Michigan’s existing Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan (PIHP) regional structure.
