In Memoriam
Ronald C. Love

Ronald C. Love, an award-winning local attorney, died March 29.

A native of Grand Rapids, Love went from South High School to Grand Rapids Junior College to Grand Valley State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon Russau, in 1968, and the couple had three

children:  Holly, Ronald Jr., and Ronald III. Ronnie, as he was affectionately known by his family, was an excellent cook, and he often had large family gatherings at his home for which he enjoyed doing the cooking. His family was his pride and joy. He and Sharon modeled good parenting, and taught their children the value of being responsible citizens. Love was a role model for his entire extended family, a friend to many, and a mentor to many more. He enjoyed working with kids in the community and coached Rocket Football in Grand Rapids for years. Many of those kids still think of him as a second father and mentor.

Love practiced law for the next thirty-seven years in a variety of disciplines. He was formerly a partner of Fred Johnson, who went on to head the Muskegon County Office of the Defender.

Love received a Giant's Award for his work in the legal community as well as a letter of commendation from the Michigan Lieutenant Governor for his outstanding work.

A member of the United States Marine Corps, he was promoted to Sergeant while serving with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station, Santa Ana, California. He and his brother Stephen were both proud Marines, and often extolled the virtues of the Corps in any setting in which they found themselves.

Love leaves behind a large family, including wife Sharon and children Holly Brooks and Ronald III.

Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m.. at Brown-Hutcherson Ministries, 634 Jefferson Ave., S.E., Grand Rapids.
