Papke featured as one of ‘Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan’

Varnum real estate attorney Melissa Papke was recently recognized in Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the “Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan.”

Crain Content Studio, the custom content division of Crain’s Detroit Business, sponsored the recognition process, relying on the expertise of advisors in the legal field to develop the criteria used to select women for the inaugural recognition. Per Crain’s: “The most Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan set legal precedent, navigate the complexities of mergers and acquisitions and manage high-profile cases.
They win awards and earn promotions. They also volunteer, teach and mentor.”

Papke, who chairs Varnum’s real estate practice, was recognized for her professional accomplishments, leadership, and contributions to the legal profession.

“Melissa provides significant added value to her clients with her diligent efforts, keen intellect and incisive analytical ability,” said Varnum Partner Nyal Deems.

Papke has practiced real estate law for more than 15 years, focusing on corporate and real estate matters with an emphasis on commercial sales, acquisitions, leasing and redevelopment, as well as construction law.

Papke is a Fellow in both the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (serving on the Board of Regents) and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. She is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section, which she has served as a governing Council Member since 2011. She has also been a member and co-chair of the RPLS Environmental and Energy Law Committee since 2007.

Papke and other notable women lawyers were recognized in a special section of Crain’s Detroit Business on Dec. 11.
