Schmidt accepted as a Fellow by ACMA
Peter Schmidt, a partner in Varnum’s Grand Rapids office, has been accepted as a Fellow by the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA). He will be inducted as a Fellow at ACMA’s 44th Annual Meeting in September in Park City, Utah.
A real estate attorney with 15 years of experience, Schmidt’s practice focuses on complex commercial real estate, construction and property development transactions including securitized loans and build-to-suit transactions. He frequently represents developers of sustainable energy projects and has a niche practice representing property owners across the country regarding cell tower leases, including the sale of cell leases and future leasing rights.
Schmidt has been recognized for several years as a Top Lawyer for real estate by Grand Rapids Magazine and is also recognized as a Rising Star by Michigan Super Lawyers.
Warner announces scholarship recipient
Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has selected Natasha Shlaimon as recipient of its new $20,000 Law Scholarship – Embracing Diversity in Our Communities.
The scholarship is awarded to a rising 2L student in good standing and from a historically marginalized community. The scholarship will be paid in installments over the course of the next two school years.
Shlaimon, a student at Wayne Law , is the first recipient of the scholarship, which was introduced in February. She will also interview for a 2023 summer associate position in one of Warner’s nine offices throughout Michigan.
A top performer in the classroom and active on campus and in the community, Shlaimon is a Law Review associate member and holds leadership positions in the Women’s Law Caucus and Arab American Law School Association. She is also a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, where she currently is part of its summer leadership class.
The $20,000 scholarship is part of a series of scholarships and programs designed to promote diversity in the legal profession.
